Periodontal Treatment

If we do not have good dental hygiene habits such as brushing our teeth 3 times a day, daily flossing, mouthwash and dental prophylaxis every 6 months, bacteria can accumulate around the teeth and multiply, producing bacterial plaque and giving rise to gingivitis. If gingivitis is not treated in time, it can develop into periodontitis.

Periodontitis is characterized by creating a periodontal pocket under the gum, where bacteria accumulate in large quantities causing the adjacent tissues to degrade, presenting some symptoms and signs such as redness of the gum, gum swelling, gum bleeding, sensitivity , tooth or toothache, bad breath, bad taste, mobility or loss of a tooth.

This treatment is attended by our periodontal specialist hand in hand with our maxillofacial surgeon since both will evaluate the case to determine the correct solution and the level of action to be executed.

Mainly the treatment consists of a deep cleaning that will be divided into quadrants, through this cleaning the greatest amount of plaque around the tooth and within the periodontal pocket is eliminated.

This treatment is painless and is carried out by means of ultrasound and manually for the deeper areas as well as for scaling and root planing.

If necessary, gingivoplasty would be performed to eliminate the periodontal pocket, reduce the risk of future plaque accumulation and facilitate dental hygiene by the patient.

This treatment is painless and thanks to the technology that we use through the electrosurgical unit, healing is immediate.

The participation of the patient for the success of the treatment is of great importance, since they must have excellent hygiene habits and follow the recommendations given by our specialists.
